TERMS & CONDITIONS

Introduction:

Thank you for considering my handcrafted furniture and metalwork. Before you proceed with your purchase, please take a moment to review our web shop terms and conditions for a seamless and satisfying shopping experience.

Web Shop General Terms and Conditions for Handcrafted Products:

Natural Material Disclaimer:

My solid wood furniture, showcased on this webshop, is crafted from natural materials. Variations in grain patterns, colour, and texture are intrinsic, adding character to each unique piece.

My metal products are plasma cut from 5mm raw mild steel. Variations in tone, marking and surface texture are intrinsic to this material and add character to each unique piece.

Wood Movement and Aging:

Solid wood responds to its environment, and you may observe minor changes, such as cracks or shifts. These are natural characteristics and not defects covered by the

warranty.

Steel Oxidation and Patina:

Raw steel responds to its environment, and you will observe changes over time, including darkening, marking, patina and surface rust. This is a natural characteristic of the material, not a defect, and is not covered by the warranty. Some customers choose to slow this process with a light oil or wax, or encourage it further; either approach is a matter of personal preference and does not affect the product's condition.

Surface Contact and Staining:

Because raw steel oxidises, rust and metal treatments (oils and waxes) may transfer or leach onto surfaces, fabrics or furnishings the item is placed on or against, particularly pale, porous or delicate surfaces. This can happen indoors as well as outdoors — outdoor or humid conditions simply speed up the process, sometimes within a matter of hours. Customers are responsible for using appropriate protective measures, such as a mat, tray or coaster, where needed. We are not liable for staining or damage to surrounding surfaces or property resulting from the natural oxidation of raw steel or from treatments applied to it.

Handling and Weight:

Metal products are plasma cut from 5mm solid steel and are heavier than their size suggests. Corners are right-angled rather than sharp but can still damage floors, furniture or other surfaces if the item is dropped, dragged or scraped. Customers are responsible for handling and positioning these items with care. We are not liable for damage caused by improper handling, moving or placement.

Product Representations:

While we strive to accurately represent our products online, natural variations may result in slight differences between the received product and the one displayed on our web shop. This applies to both wood grain and colouring, and to metal tone and surface finish.

Designed Product Use:

Our solid wood furniture is designed exclusively for indoor use and is non-load-bearing. Metal products are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Oxidation, patina and surface rust will develop naturally in either setting; outdoor exposure to rain and humidity simply speeds this up, in some cases within a matter of hours under the right conditions. As set out under Surface Contact and Staining, appropriate protective measures should be taken wherever marking to the surface below is not wanted.

Fire Safety for Solid Wood Furniture:

Our solid wood furniture is crafted with high-quality materials and finishes. While solid wood itself is not highly flammable, the fire resistance of our furniture may be influenced by the specific finishes and coatings applied. It is important to exercise caution and avoid exposing the furniture to open flames, high temperatures, or other fire hazards. We recommend keeping a safe distance from sources of heat, including but not limited to candles, fireplaces, and heaters.

Maintenance and Care:

To ensure the longevity of your product, refer to the provided product care instructions. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or extreme conditions for wood items, and follow the recommended oiling or waxing guidance for metal items. For detailed support on product maintenance, customers should read the Product Care and FAQs pages on this website.

Returns & Refunds:

Due to the weight and nature of our products, returns for web shop purchases are at the customer's cost. Only undamaged items in their original condition are eligible for refunds. Natural material behaviour, including wood movement and metal oxidation or patina occurring after delivery, does not constitute damage. Refer to the Delivery & Returns page on this website.

Limited Warranty:

Our products are covered by a limited warranty addressing manufacturing defects under normal use. It does not cover damages from improper care, misuse, or alterations, nor does it cover natural material behaviour such as wood movement, cracking, or metal oxidation, patination and surface rust.

Product Availability:

Availability on our webshop may change without notice. We reserve the right to discontinue or modify products, and we are not liable for any inconvenience resulting from unavailability.

Legal Compliance:

Customers are responsible for ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations related to the purchase, delivery, and use of our products through our webshop.

By proceeding with a purchase on our webshop, customers acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions. Feel free to contact us for clarifications or additional information before finalising your order.

Web Shop Terms and Conditions for Customised Products:

Bespoke Orders:

Customisation options are available for our solid wood and metal products. Bespoke orders are subject to the following additional terms and conditions. Customers are encouraged to carefully review and confirm the specifications, dimensions, and other details of their customised orders before completing the purchase.

Product Variations:

Due to the distinctive characteristics of solid wood and raw steel, there may be variations in the final appearance, grain patterns, colour, or surface tone of customised products. Customers should expect and appreciate these natural variations as integral elements contributing to the charm and individuality of their bespoke items.

It's essential to note that the ultimate form and finish will be influenced by several factors, including the specific timber or steel selected, the hand-making process, and the inherent nuances of the finishing process applied (including flame finishing for wood or oxidation and patina for steel). Consequently, the final form and finish cannot be guaranteed exactly. By agreeing to a customised product, you accept and acknowledge this variability.

Design Approval:

Prior to production, customers will be presented with a product design for approval. This will include details of the selected material, nominal dimensions, finishing, agreed additional features, and product costs. It is the customer's responsibility to thoroughly review and confirm that the provided details represent their design preferences and are sufficient for them to proceed with the order. Once approved, changes may be subject to additional charges. Delivery costs will be estimates until the product is finished.

Changes or Cancellations:

Changes or cancellations to bespoke orders must be communicated promptly. Depending on the stage of production, alterations may incur additional charges. Cancellations after the production process has commenced will be subject to a fee.

Delivery:

Customised products may have longer lead times than standard items. Customers will be provided with an estimated delivery time, but variations may occur. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate any delays. I will issue a delivery cost estimate prior to purchase, but the actual cost will not be available until the product is complete.

Returns and Refunds:

Customised products are crafted to meet specific requirements, making returns challenging. Returns or refunds will be considered only in cases of damage that occurred during shipping. Refunds will not be issued for changes in personal preference after the design approval stage, nor for natural material changes such as wood movement or metal oxidation and patina.

By proceeding with a bespoke order, customers acknowledge and agree to these terms and conditions related to the customisation of solid wood and metal products. It is recommended to contact us for any questions or clarifications before finalising a customised order.
